Today is Girl Day, dedicated to encouraging girls to pursue engineering. Women constitute 48 percent of the U.S. workforce but hold just 24 percent of the U.S. jobs in STEM and only 1 7 engineers are female. Even worse, only 1 out of every 10 STEM professionals is a minority woman. Girls they naturally possess the creativity and analytical and communication skills that are the signature traits of an engineer. Those women in the engineering field can help alter the gender disparity wonderful role models to inspire and cultivate girls in this rapidly growing field. Project Lead The Way (PLTW) is a provider of STEM curriculum to middle school and high school students that link math and science concepts with real-world problems and solutions.
Change the conversation with powerful messages from DiscoverE.org to inspire girls to become engineers and use discovery, creativity and innovation to help solve social and environmental problems around the world.
