The sarcasm shines through in this campaign video for California ballot proposition 29—the California Cancer Research Act, a measure that would add a $1 tax on cigarette packs to fund cancer research. Stylistically, these citizens look like the happy, docile subjects of a feel good product advert. But the bitter discomfort of what they say doesn’t leave much room for complacency (especially if you’re a California citizen this June 5). The sworn statement by the tobacco lobbyist is the duplicitous cherry on top. This is a strong message to get out and vote for critical health and business policies.

Visit Californians for a Cure action center to help spread word about this health measure.
