African Men: Hollywood Stereotypes | 2:40 |

Mama Hope

Benard, Brian, Derrik, and Gabriel have a good laugh at the Hollywood image of African men; the representation which Americans consume at the box office. This comic critique from Mama Hope, which hit a half million views within a week, peels back this image of African men, and shows something different. No guns, rocket launchers, poorly scripted one-liners and mercenary Caucasians who have conveniently honorable hearts at the end of the movie. In short, no narrative devices. But how to recognize narrative devices? Education. And education gives a voice. This video is a prime example.
